Information for Families
Family friendly
Taliesin is a family friendly venue, as such, we strive to make ourselves as friendly – and functional – as possible. Our auditorium is relatively small, and even the youngest of patrons seem to feel at home here.
Things to do
We try to programme a variety of events for families, with a specific emphasis on pre-schoolers. Whenever we have shows for young children and their families, we make an effort to have a foyer activity, such as themed colouring in, available to pass the time between arrival and the start of the show. Families are welcome to visit our gallery and gift shop on the ground floor of the building.
Pricing
We try to keep prices for family events at a minimum and where possible have a flat price for all ages for family shows – we know how annoying it is to have to pay an adult surcharge to go to see something that is primarily for your child. We also have family tickets for four people and group booking discounts for groups of 8 or more.
Parking
We regret that we are only able to offer Mon-Fri daytime parking for Blue Badge holders. Nearby public parking is available at Brynmill Recreation Ground and the Pub on the Pond.Outside of office hours (after 4pm weekdays and all weekend), visitors are welcome to park in any of the campus car parks.
Visit us by bus
Bus numbers 2A, 2B, 3A, 4, 4A, 14A, 43, 82 and 82A serve the university from the city centre Quadrant bus station. For further information on the local bus services, see http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/wales/swwales/home/index.php
Lap Seats & Booster Seats
Where your child is under 2 years of age, and is sitting on your lap, you should purchase a Parent & Baby lapseat. The ticket is one standard ticket price and allows a parent and baby to take up one seat. We have booster seats available for young children sitting in a seat of their own to ensure they have the best possible view.
Feeding your child
Please feel comfortable to breastfeed at Taliesin. Our bar staff will be happy to provide hot water to warm bottles or baby food for weaning children. We have high chairs available for use.
Baby changing
We have a baby change table in our accessible toilet. We also have lower sinks and a step stool in both the ladies and gents toilets to help with hand washing.
Access for buggies
Taliesin has a lift and also ramp access into the building, making fully accessible for everyone moving around with wheels! Our Front of House staff will be glad to advise on areas in which to leave your buggy during a performance
Taliesin cannot accept responsibility for your children, so we kindly ask parents, carers and guardians to stay with them at all times. Our Duty staff reserve the right to refuse admission to unaccompanied children if deemed inappropriate to the event.
For cinema screenings and delayed live streams, we abide by classification decisions made by the BBFC, and reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone felt to be underage who cannot provide identification to prove otherwise. For further information regarding film certificates please click here.
