Sun's out; summer brochure out
Tuesday 31st May
It’s officially summer (according to us)!
Once again we bring you a wide variety of performances from all over the worlds, including talks from Bangladesh, live music from the USA, live broadcasts from London, and brand new films from France, Denmark, and Wales.
In this first edition of the new programme blog, we’ll be taking you through three fascinating talks that’ll be sure to captivate your imagination and get you thinking outside the box.
Our first of three talks is a “psycho-geographical wander” that’ll take you from the doorstep of Taliesin Arts Centre and into the realm of what’s possible in the future… on foot. Join artists Owen Griffiths and Simon Whitehead on immersive cultural walks where you’ll get to ask questions and meet academics and practitioners. Explore and delve into new ways in which Taliesin can work in the future…
This event takes place over three separate days, and are completely free, but booking is essential as spaces are limited.
The Sound of Being Human
Our second talk of the season is on Wednesday 8th June, where we’ll welcome Swansea born arts and culture writer Jude Rogers to Taliesin. Hosted in the foyer, join us in celebrating the launch of her new book ‘The of Being Human’.
An acclaimed music critic and featured author for The Guardian, the Observer, and New Statesman; join Jude for extract readings from the book and a Q&A. This is an opportunity to purchase the book as well as meeting the author in a social and informal environment.
This event is very popular and tickets are limited. We recommend booking in advance to ensure your seat.
Everything Change: Writing Change
This is the third series of the season. Cast your mind back to June 2021 where Taliesin partnered up with Dhaka Lit Festival in Bangladesh and hosted Everything Change. The event focused on seven key areas: money, food, water, energy, justice, story, and change itself.
A year on, join us and writers from Wales and Bangladesh as we present Everything Change: Writing Change. Here they’ll discuss what they’ve learnt, talk about their responses, and have an opportunity to see what they’ve written.
This event is split over three dates, each with an exclusive pair of guests presenting their work, each in a unique style.
Thursday 9 June
Alys Conran – The Changing Days
Kaiser Haq – The New Frontier
Friday 17 June
Marvin Thompson – Ten Tips for Surviving a Flood
Abeer Hoque – Love in the Time of Composting
Thursday 30 June
Saad z Hossain – The Last CEO
Carys Eleri – Everything Change/Only Leave Love Behind
