TALIESIN DANCE DAYS 2019
Swansea's FREE International Dance Festival
Saturday 13 - Sunday 14 JULY from 11am to 6pm
To give you a pre-taste of Dance Days 2019, here's what you will see this coming weekend.
What is Dance Days?
Dance Days is a two-day summer festival, created by Taliesin Arts Centre in 2006. Taliesin has been producing this not-to-be-missed weekend of thrilling dance performances for thirteen years now, and it’s absolutely free!
This whole weekend brings together performers from across the UK and beyond, dancing alongside Swansea community dance groups. Contemporary meets traditional as Dance Days features a wide variety of dance, giving the people of Swansea an entire weekend of dance in unexpected places.
Swansea's FREE International Dance Festival is part of ''Dancing Cities - CQD'', an international network of festivals that programmes contemporary dance shows in urban landscapes. Swansea was one of the first UK cities to join this worldwide network, which includes Rio de Janeiro, Barcelona, Geneva, London and Manchester.
When and where is Dance Days this year?
Saturday 13 July, 11am-6pm: at Castle Square (SA1 1DW), National Waterfront Museum (SA1 3RD), and around Swansea marina.
Sunday 14 July, 11am-6pm: Dance Days continues on Sunday at National Waterfront Museum (SA1 3RD), and around Swansea marina.
What's on this Dance Days 2019?
Once again, Taliesin brings together performers from across the UK and beyond, dancing alongside local dance groups, in a world-class dance festival. Traditional and contemporary, circus and parkour, this year's programme features a dazzling variety of dance.
The festival also offers bookable workshops for all ages, a touch tour for people who are blind and partially sighted and a stay-and-play session for young people.
Dance Days is joined this year by Folk Dance Remixed! This is the opportunity to try something new: learn a funky routine to live music, whilst creating wraps and ripples, waves and breaks in classic maypole moves.

A few words about Dance Days from Nia Mills, Dance Days Organiser at Taliesin Arts Centre:
"Taliesin Arts Centre is committed to giving more people the opportunity to see the very best that the arts have to offer – and every summer we take dance out of the theatre and onto the streets of Swansea for a two-day free festival. This year’s Dance Days on 13 & 14 July will showcase dance performances which are exhilarating, funny, athletic and accessible with performance companies from across the UK as well as local talent.
We are grateful for the continued support of the National Waterfront Museum in making this the must-see outdoor arts event of the year.
Come and discover the best and brightest on the dance scene in Castle Square, and in and around the marina and the museum and prepare to be amazed, amused and entertained!"
* Performances will go ahead throughout the weekend. Some slight adjustments may be made to times and locations if needed. Information will be on site if so.
