Dr Patricia Rodríguez-Martínez-Jones and Professor Tom Cheesman, both of Swansea University, will give a reading of Neruda's work (bilingually) for around 10 minutes before the screening.

This is a fascinating examination of how we create the story of our own lives – particularly if you’re a vain, self-publicist like the great Nobel-prize winning poet, Pablo Neruda. In the late 1940s Neruda is on the run from a Chilean government crackdown. Peluchonneau, the dogged detective on his tail and Neruda become two poles of an intertwined narrative; both determined to create their own myths, one as the smart top detective, the other as a great romantic poet and hero of the people.

“A playfully unexpected spin on a historical drama.” Wendy Ide, Sight & Sound
